What is bone tuberculosis? Causes, Symptoms and Consequences of the Illness

Tuberculosis of bones is a disease of the musculoskeletal system of a person, which is characterized by the progressive destruction of bones. Often, the pathological process develops in the spine, but occurs in other parts of the musculoskeletal system.
Development of bone tuberculosis and its causes
The tuberculosis wand penetrates the spongy bone divisions and causes the primary cell (aphtha) that spreads to the joints and surrounding tissues and causes their destruction.
The cause of this disease is a tuberculosis wand in the human body. Around it starts a reactive inflammatory process, an infectious granuloma develops, with the expansion of which occurs dissolution of bone matter, the formation of abscesses. The most dangerous bone tuberculosis for a child’s body, which is in the stage of growth and development.
Factors that may affect the development of bone tuberculosis include:
bad social and living conditions in which a person lives;
malnutrition or hunger;
infectious diseases that are often repeated;
chronic stresses;
OX.
Symptoms of bone tuberculosis
At an initial stage, the disease often occurs asymptomatic. The first signs are already at the stage of defeat of bones and joints, which is preceded by arthritis. They include:
general weakness, lethargy, drowsiness;
slight increase in body temperature (not higher than 38 ° C);
irritability;
pulling muscle pain.
If the disease has gone into arthritic phase, these symptoms are intensified, signs of bone and joint damage are attached to them. Then the symptoms will be as follows:
increase in body temperature to 39 ° C;
severe pain in the spine or joints;
pain in movement of joints, limitation of their functionality;
edema, atrophy of soft tissues;
shortening of limbs, lameness, stiffness;
the formation of abscesses.
Tuberculosis of the bones presents a rather serious complication, especially if it does not start on time and properly treated. It leads to curvature of the back, formation of a hump, loss of mobility of joints, muscle atrophy, paralysis of extremities.
Diagnosis and treatment of bone tuberculosis

The diagnostic procedures that can help to diagnose the disease include: a general review of the patient; clinical blood test; bacteriological examination of exudate or bone tissue; Mantoux test; immunoassay; X-ray of the bones; MRI or CT; bone biopsy.
Tuberculosis of bones has a secondary nature, therefore the treatment is carried out general and local, aimed at strengthening the resistance of the body and in the fight against pathological changes. The process of recovery is a long-term, it takes the best forecasts from 1.5 to 3 years (provided continuous unified treatment).
The patient should eat fully and regularly, stay outdoors for a long time. Helps orthopedic treatment (applying plaster to affected areas), antituberculous drugs can be very effective. Surgical intervention is also possible – resection of the joints, prosthetics, and the like.
