Take care of the male health of the mother: what is cryptorchidism

Prevalent malformation abnormality is the absence of testicles in the scrotum. Cryptorhizm (a medical name for an anomaly) is not a catastrophe for a boy or a future husband, but if he does not solve the problem, then in the future men’s health is threatened by a number of problems: from infertility to testicle cancer.
Is the male genital anomalies really a problem?
At first, the testicles are formed in the peritoneum, and then, if the body of the boy develops normally, they independently move through the inguinal canal to the scrotum. If this does not happen, then talk about cryptorchidism. However, in many cases, the urologist, surgeon, or andrologist diagnoses the false cryptorchidism: that is, this anomaly does not require surgical treatment: the testicle or self falls down to the place where the boy reaches puberty age (in a relaxed state in a baby, this also occurs, but then, when the child moves, testicle again “falls out”). Or the specialist manages to (manually) return the testicle to a place in the scrotum.
With true cryptorchidism, surgical treatment is required, since it is impossible to reinstate the testicle by hand and then keep it in the scrotum. Suspect anomalies can be by asymmetry of the scrotum, the absence of the testicle in it with the finger rubbing (palpation), aching pains in the area of the groin and abdomen that the child complains about. Also, cryptorchidism can be acquired when the testicular sheath has occurred after injury. It is important to differentiate cryptorchidism from ectopia: in the latter case, the testicle can be located in the perineum, the anterior wall of the peritoneum, etc. In such boys, even after treatment, there is a high risk of infertility.
Diagnosis and treatment of cryptorchidism: why it is important
In addition, when cryptorchidism is concerned about pain in the groin and abdomen, this condition contributes to the development of a number of pathologies. At an older age, adolescent untreated in childhood, cryptorchidism can be a cause of cancer, as well as infertility, because this anomaly affects the quality of sperm and the number of sperm. In addition, the absence of testicles leads to the development of inguinal hernia, distortion of the spermatic cord, scarring of the testicle. And this condition, in addition to the sharp pain in the failure to provide help, ends with the death of the testicle. With an undiluted testicle on which the bony bone opens, it increases the risk of injury to the sexual gland.
What can appoint a doctor for diagnosis and treatment
For the diagnosis of cryptorchidism, ultrasound scans (ultrasound abdominal cavity), MRI, testicular scintigraphy, angiography of the abdominal aorta, and venography of the testicular vein are used: a specialist will conduct a personal review of the patient and scapulitis palpation. In the case of false cryptorchidism, no special treatment is required; the correction of the true or acquired cryptorchidism will be determined by the child’s endocrinologist or surgeon-urologist (andrologist). In the future, parents, and then an adolescent, will be important to conduct self-examination of the testicles so as not to miss the development of possible tumor processes.
If it is difficult for you to choose a clinic or a medical center for ultrasound scrub, ultrasound examination of genital organs, diagnosis and treatment of cryptorchidism, then you can apply for free assistance to our consultants or use the all-Ukrainian public register of medical institutions of Ukraine.
